Vinted Users Voice Frustration Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
